The Victorian Pride Centre will be the iconic new home of Victoria’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and intersex communities. The Pride Centre’s vision is informed by a number of key values including living with pride, valuing differences, uplifting others and sustainable development.

HIP V. HYPE Sustainability is part of the winning competition team, and has been engaged through all stages of the design process to ensure that sustainability is integrated through the design, construction and operations of the Pride Centre.

Working closely with the Victorian Pride Centre (VPC), Brearly Architects and Urbanists (BAU) and Grant Amon Architects (GAA), HIP V. HYPE Sustainability identified measures to improve the project’s environmental, social and economic sustainability.

Drawing on concepts and design measures from a variety of tools including Green Star Design & As Built, WELL and Living Building Challenge, the project uses the Built Environment Sustainability Scorecard (BESS) tool to benchmark performance.

HIP V. HYPE Sustainability worked closely with the design team to strategically approach sustainability, delivering:

_Sustainability Opportunities Assessment and Workshop
_Preliminary Green Star Design & As Built pathway
_Sustainability Management Plan and BESS assessment
_Tender advice to ensure effective integration through construction
_Preliminary energy and daylight assessments
_Rainwater tank sizing analysis to optimise rainwater collection and reuse
_Solar panel system sizing analysis
