Suburban Land Agency (SLA) is the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Government's land development agency, responsible for delivering the Territory's suburban development program. SLA's projects aim to support affordable living, social inclusion, housing choice and environmental sustainability.
SLA has been delivering on this program through a five-year Sustainability Strategy which included initiatives focused on resilient communities, net zero emissions, responsible consumption and healthy, prosperous and inclusive places.
In preparation for the development of their new Sustainability Strategy, SLA engaged HIP V. HYPE to review the existing strategy and provide a series of recommendations to guide next steps.

Context
The review included engagement with internal SLA stakeholders, while a peer assessment, industry scan and cross-agency collaboration helped ensure recommendations were fit-for-purpose and sought to push for best practice.
Building on this work, HIP V. HYPE was further engaged to develop SLA's upcoming 10-year Strategy and Roadmap to guide sustainability across their operations and project work. Part of the strategy will be to reduce complexity, communicating sustainability within three key themes: climate, nature and people.
As part of the engagement, HIP V. HYPE is undertaking a materiality assessment, establishing targets, goals and metrics for sustainability performance, developing project implementation frameworks and supporting technical guidance for development teams.
