Designed by Austin Maynard Architects, Terrace House features 20 fossil fuel free homes over seven stories, with a rooftop garden and communal laundry. The project pushes boundaries by excluding residential car parking, instead offering 70 bike parks and easy access to public transport and car share hubs.

Project builder, Kapitol Group, engaged HIP V. HYPE to deliver a lifecycle assessment in compliance with international standards 14040 and 14044, and the European standard EN 15978:20111.

Context

The assessment set out to profile and improve the building’s environmental footprint and, subsequently, explore options to reduce its impact across materiality, construction processes and carbon offsetting.

Analysis demonstrated an estimated reduction of 3,498 tCO2eq emissions compared to an average building.
