Located in South Melbourne, The Canopy at 272 Normanby Road is a mixed-use residential, commercial and retail development by Gamuda Land. 

In collaboration with architects Hayball, HIP V. HYPE has been engaged as the project's sustainability consultants, working towards a biophilic, low-carbon community built for health, liveability and lifestyle. 

This includes the thoughtful incorporation of Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD), sustainable transport, renewable energy sources and resource management into the design of the development.

Context

The Canopy has committed to exceeding the National Construction Code 2019 building thermal requirements by 20%, increasing the project's energy efficiency and comfort for occupants. The project is also targeting leading benchmarks for design, construction and operational performance via a commitment to achieving a Green Star Buildings 5-star rating and a NatHERS 7.5-star rating.
